Typescript copy of the reminiscences of Powell, a member of the 24th North Carolina Infantry Regiment and the 10th North Carolina Battalion, Heavy Artillery, describing his service in Virginia, including the Seven Days Battle, and the battles of Antietam and Fredericksburg; the defenses of Wilmington, N.C.; the fight against the troops of General William T. Sherman at Savannah, Ga.; and the retreat to Bentonville, N.C. Powell comments on Confederate deserters, the hardships and amusements of camp life, and the faithful service rendered to him by two slaves during the war.
